Celebrity singer and CEO of Blu-View Concepts, Joe Anthony Ekpo, fondly known as Joe Blue has floated a beauty contest to harness some of Nigeria’s young talents.
A beauty pageant or beauty contest is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants, although most contests have evolved to also incorporate personality traits, intelligence, talent, and a contestant’s ability to answer judges’ questions on various subjects as judged criteria.
Tagged ‘Miss Magnificent Int’l,’ the pageant, which is under the aegis of Blu-View Concepts, has been scheduled to kick off soon via an online platform.
Speaking at a press conference which held at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja on February 21, creative consultant and public relations officer, Onyinye Okeke told journalists that the development became necessary following the outbreak of COVID-19.
She expressed concerns that the pandemic had compelled the management of BlueView Concept to postpone the the pageant repeatedly.
However, she noted that Blu-View Concepts would deploy and rely heavily on the use of media technology to project the event on social media such as YouTube and Instagram achieve its ultimate aim.
In attendance were Ayodele Ayibiowu, HR Director; Alexandra Ekpo, Public Relations Officer (General) and Market Strategist; Owoju J. Muyiwa, Assistant Head of Brand; Benjamin A. Osareti, Creative Director; Asuquo Sylvia, Assistant Project Manager among others.
According to the outfit’s market strategist, Alexandra Ekpo, getting a platform to project one’s innate idea or talent is one of the major challenges plaguing Nigerian youths.
“We all know how difficult it is to get a platform to launch one’s talent or ideas. This is why the Miss Magnificent platform was created to bridge such gap among ladies between the ages of 18 and 28.
“Blu-View Concepts is an entertainment brand which will be coming with several projects, one of which is Miss Magnificent International. This is a pageant for beautiful elegant girls who will eventually represent our country.
“We are not stopping only at pageant, otherwise it will limit our vision. With time, you are going to be seeing more projects like music and others from us,” she said.
She also admitted that the pandemic was a major challenge to reaching major sponsors for the contest.
Explaining why Miss Magnificent is different from the likes of Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria and Miss Nigeria Pageant, the Assistant Head of Brand, Owoju Muyiwa also told journalists that a lot of investment has gone into the project to ensure that it meets up to standard.
“The truth is that if one fails to prepare, one should prepare to fail. We are much more interested in the intellect, elegance, communication skills and intelligence of these participants.
“The creation of Blu-View Concepts and the Miss Magnificent Int’l contest is actually Joe Blue’s way of giving back to the community. This initiative is centered on tourist development and platform creation for both local and international youth empowerment. Its sole aim is to promote Nigerian youths and the nation’s entertainment industry through pageantry and Music,” he said.
In Alexandra’s explanation, the platform would further provide a session where the girls can showcase their talents and creativity.
“We urge you to watch out. It is going to be mind-blowing,” she said.
Shortly after the press session, there was a parade of artistes and young celebrities who graced the black carpet for the evening.
Joe Blue, the brain behind Blu-View Concepts, was a self-effacing entertainment whizkid who emerged first runner-up winner of Nigerian Idol season 2.
He is also a finalist of The Voice Nigeria contest, an international performing artist and, of course, the pioneer along with aspiring team players. The young celebrity could best be remembered for his peculiar dress sense during 2012 edition of Nigeria idol talent hunt show which many remarked was absolutely refreshing and sensational.
