Popular on-air-personality, Murphy Ijemba otherwise known as ‘Radio paparrazi’ has been sacked along with three others in a controversial manner by management of Brila Fm.

The development which has been generating buzz all over the internet has pitched some of his loyal listeners against the sports radio with many vowing they will never tune into Brila FM again.

Feelers reaching CityPulse Nigeria had it that the award-winning presenter and the rest of the A-team, such as Eseoghene Efe (Elegbete), Amar Ignis, Osondu Ugwude, Yemi Fagbolagun, Femi Fasetire, Chris Oguguo, Sean Amadi and Francis Achi popularly referred to as Totori Master were among the casualties list of Brila chairman, Dr. Larry Izamoje. They were allegedly axed after falling out with the management.

However close friends were quick to point out that Radio Paparazzi actually resigned when the news of Sean Amadi filtered in. Apparently, he had an apprehension he would be the next to be hacked.

Much as observers view the dismissal of the high caliber presenters as monumental disaster, it would be recalled that ace broadcaster Bimbo Adeola otherwise known as the Top Striker also left in a similar controversial manner.

The sudden dismissal did not really go down well with Ijemba who took to twitter to vent his anger. According to him, the management has a penchant for not wanting the progress of its staff, especially in the area of staff welfare.

He noted that there was a period a colleague, Sexy Joe, was beaten and stripped of her phone by hoodlums following refusal of the management to grant the staff access to official cars.

Meanwhile Brila Management has claimed that the presenters were not fired but threw in the towel after after they were transferred to their sister stations in other states.

A product of St. Martins Primary School, Mushin Olosa , Lagos, Murphy Ijemba’s journey to broadcasting started from Kano State, in Bayero University, to be specific. That was where he studied BSc. Accounting.

According to him, “During my third year we had the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Week so we did a presentation at Daar Communication Ltd i.e. AIT and Raypower at the center in Kano. I led the team and we had a great conversation with the audience and listeners on that day.

One of their staff approached me and said; “we love your diction, attitude and character.” So the staff asked, why don’t you do something for us on radio? So I said I have a special passion for sports and said let’s give you a chance since the man in charge has traveled. And that was how my career started,” he stressed.

His traffic-time show was about the most popular radio show in Lagos and Ogun as people stranded in traffic or returning home after a hectic day took delight in listening to his rib-cracking jokes and light-hearted talks on Brila FM.

In his usual Molebi style, Radio Paparazzi declared that the audience he tries to appeal to are not those that are “Londoners or New Yorkers,” but everyday people like the market women and men in Mushin, Alaba, Oshodi or Lagos Island with the right message.

“They will understand local languages or the English you speak with your own mother tongue not phonetics. In China they speak Chinese not English and they are doing well. For instance Wazobia FM is the highest earning radio station today alongside other radio stations.

You know why? Because they come down to the level of the masses. I have been to Zambia, South Africa and other countries. They speak English but with their own mother tongue (accent) that is what I am saying. I am not saying we should not speak English I am saying we should speak it with our own mother tongue not by copying white men’s tongue,” he said
