Jermain Defoe displays his new tattoo which refers to the Bible's Psalm 91

With 14 goals in all competitions for Sunderland and a recall to the England national team where he banged a goal in the 2 – 0 win over Lithuania last month, he towers above his contemporaries in the new season.
This is not the news though.

Despite his sustained form in the last three years, the former Tottenham and West Ham star has not had his faith shattered by his Euro Cup snub last year.

The 34-year-old journeyman has also been to the MLS in recent years, with a spell at Toronto. In fact, Defoe has gone a step further by adding to the current collection of tattoos on his arms to show support to Christianity on Instagram recently.
For the record, Psalm 91, featured in the Bible, explains how the Lord will guard and protect his followers.
